Holter Monitor

 

What is it?

A Holter monitor is a battery-operated portable device that measures and records your heart’s activity (electrocardiogram – ECG) continuously for 24 to 48 hours.

How is it done?

The holter monitor small portable device that will record your ecgs as you go about your daily activities. It is connected to your upper chest using electrodes and is fitted our Practice Nurse. It is wireless, lightweight, waterproof comfortable and an unobtrusive device. A diary will be given to you to record of your daily activities but also any symptoms you experience over this period. Once the monitor is returned and downloaded the data is analysed and reported by a cardiologist. A copy of the results will be forwarded to you and your referring Doctor. Please allow 30minutes for this appointment.

What to wear?

Please wear a separate top. You will need to wear clothes that allow you to move freely whilst wearing the ECG machine and electrodes.

Is there any preparation required?

No preparation is required and once you are fitted no aftercare is necessary.
