Cardiac Catheterisation / Coronary Angiogram

What is it?

This is a procedure done under local anaesthetic, that allows us to assess the condition of the blood vessels in your heart.

How is it done?

A small tube or catheter is introduced via a leg or arm artery. Contrast is then injected into the blood vessels around your heart. X-rays are then taken to allow us to understand the condition of your heart and detect any blockages.

Preparation

We will fully explain the procedure to you and any preparation you will need to do before it.
