Exercise ECG
What Is It?
An Exercise ECG- electrocardiogram is done to detect changes in your heart's functions during exercise. As with a resting ECG, the test is very simple and uses similar equipment.
Your GP may have referred to this test as a ‘stress test’ or an ‘exercise tolerance test’.
How Is It Done?
The test takes place on a motor assisted treadmill that allows the amount of work you do to be controlled. This allows us to understand the changes that are happening and assess your heart health. It is undertaken by our practice nurse.
Preparation
We will give you an information sheet to help you to prepare for the test, but generally it is best to wear loose fitting comfortable clothes that will allow you to move freely, with a separate top.
